Korean Fencer Shin A-Lam in the classic 'En Garde*' pose during the bronze-medal play-off (after her 1 hour 'sit-in' protest). I got similar photos of all four athletes who reached the semi-finals, but this came out best. It was épée so none of the fencers went into the really 'deep' en garde pose more common in foil.

Taken at the fencing arena in the ExCel centre during the London 2012 Olympics. I ended up with the most amazing front-row centre seats after being moved from cheaper ones into some ones that had been left empty, it was a great experience.

I used a duotone colouring as the photograph had quite a lot of colour noise because I needed the ISO up so high.

*It turns out that is actually the correct technical term.
