Lunge

Female épée fencer performing a lunge. Sketched in pencil, scanned and then finished digitally using Photoshop CS5. I scanned a piece of cardboard to make the background (afterall, a white fencer on a white background would have been almost as bad as a polar bear in a snow storm).

I used a photograph I took at the women's épée bronze medal match during the London 2012 Olympic games as a reference. I liked it as an action shot, but the quality wasn't brilliant (it was quite grainy and blurry). The fencer in the photo I referenced from is Shin Lam, but I used a little artistic licence and didn't include any of the wires, left the jacket plain (without the South Korean 'logos' on the arms) and gave her a white glove rather than a blue one.

As usual, DAs compression system is making the full-view blurry!
