Starry Night Blouse

Description

Technically speaking this should probably have gone in the needlework folder, since I didn't make the blouse itself; I just embroidered the stars on it to go with my 'moon pendant' (shown here: [link]). This is the first embroidery project I've ever completed (not including the odd bit of tapestry or cross-stitch).

I was probably completely daft to use metallic embroidery floss for a first project since it's much harder to use than cotton or wool; it's also whited out in the photograph. The stars are silver, not white as they appear! There are around 50 stars on the blouse, each made up of sixteen stitches (eight one thread thick and another eight two threads thick). I'm not sure how long I spent embroidering this, probably in the region of 8 hours I'd guess? I think it would have taken half the time in ordinary thread, but it wouldn't have had quite the same effect.

Full-view is pretty big, so be careful if you have a slow connection/computer.

Very nice. And yes, I'd vote crazy on using metallic thread, but it'll look great in sunlight :D
